Emergency Response
Emergency Response Pool (ER Pool)The Emergency Response Pool Programme is designed to assist designated staff to respond to an emergency within the swimming pool environment when the alarm has been raised.
The Emergency Responder can be any member of the facility called upon to rescue and provide first aid.
This qualification can be utilised for staff who work at shallow pools where constant supervision is not needed.
Emergency Response Pool – Course Details
What Does ER Pool Involve?
A two-day course which will give your employees knowledge and practical training to:
- Rescue a casualty in the event of being alerted to an emergency
- Recover a casualty to poolside
- Perform vital First Aid, including CPR and AED
Who Can Complete ER Pool Training?
Any staff employed at the venue, e.g.
- Receptionists
- Chefs
- Waiting staff
- Housekeeping
- Maintenance staff
- Duty Managers
- Gym staff
The ER Pool qualification is valid for two years following successful completion.
What are the pre-requisites?
- Be able to surface dive to the deepest part of the pool and climb out without help and without using steps or ladders (where venue design permits)
- Be aged 16 or older at the beginning of the course
Other Aquatic Training
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
The NPLQ is a recruitment requirement for a number of jobs within the leisure industry from Pool Lifeguard to Centre Manager. This qualification is also recognised internationally, so you can use it at several places abroad if you are thinking of working in summer camps.
Ongoing Lifeguard Training and Competency
We also provide additional NPLQ training as recommended by the RLSS and the IQL for lifeguards who need to top up their training hours or require a renewal or competency assessment
National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC)
A necessity for any swimming teacher, this course assists those with responsibility for supervising swimming groups and activities to identify hazards, prevent accidents and take appropriate emergency action where required.
